Website Troubleshooting

We have assembled a few helpful hints and tips that may help you determine why your website may not appear in your browser. Below are posts on steps you can take to determine the cause of the issue.

However, when in doubt please submit a ticket to the Alentus SupportCenter .

Clear your Browser & DNS Caches

Your browser will cache (temporarily save) copies of websites you frequently visit, to bring the files up in your browser quicker. So it is possible that your browser may be accessing an interrupted copy of your site and returning an error message, rather than the accessible copy available across the internet.

To clear up any local browser issues, close down all copies of your browser and clear your cookies and browser cache.

More extreme measures may be to reboot your workstation, trying another workstation if available, or performing a Flush DNS. However, if clearing your browser history and cache does not work, most likely the problem exists elsewhere.

Double-Check your Internet Connectivity

If you can read this page, the likelihood that the issue is not your internet connection is pretty good. However, many internet service providers exist between you and a requested website. Navigating to other popular sites (like google.com) is sometimes a helpful indicator of any issues with ISPs.  However the best method to determine difficulties are to Ping your website server using your website domain name (eg: www.yourdomainnamehere.com). This test will verify the connectivity between your workstation and webserver.  If no connection can be detected, performing a TraceRoute will help determine where the issues are occurring.  If either test returns negative results, submit your results to the Alentus SupportCenter to notify us of the issue.

WHOIS & DNS Checks

To be certain that there have not been any changes to your Domain registration, perform a WHOIS and/or DNS checks. With a WHOIS Search, make sure that your domain name is registered and up to date, and that the DNS entries are pointed to Alentus’ Domain Name Servers. If you determine that the entries are incorrect, or that the domain name requires renewal, most likely once the changes are made, your site will be back to working normally.
